Make Your Own Beauty Swipes ~ Cleanse Beautifully in One {Pure} Step!

This little "AH HA moment" was a game changer for me!
While designing sanitizing wipes for the office and classroom, I was reminded of all the money I've spent on *Philosophy Facial Wipes while working as a delivery driver for "Brown".

*Philosophy Description of their wipes on Nordstrom website:  The oversized, ultrasoft cloths are designed to swipe away dirt, makeup and oil in one super-simple step, leaving skin feeling perfectly clean with no need to rinse. Keep purity made simple one-step facial cleansing cloths in your purse, gym bag or travel bag for pure, clean skin wherever you go.
$15.00!
(...and I paid it, because sometimes I'm a sucker)

Hence, the creation of Beauty Swipes!

You must admit, there are times when you just can't get to a sink, headband, washcloth and mirror...but you desperately need to clean your face!

The key basic ingredients of Beauty Swipes are:

Water
*Coconut Oil
Lavender and Lemon Essential Oil
(to soothe and cleanse)

HOWEVER...

...based on your skin, Beauty Swipes can be customized with additional oils!  Such as:

Melaleuca/tea tree oil
for acne prone skin

Sea Buckthorn Oil
for aging skin and rosacea

Geranium Oil
for skin tone

Emu Oil
for moisturizing

You get the picture...right?

A few examples why we LOVE Beauty Swipes...

1.  If you wash your face with oil (yes, that's right), you'll love these!  *Coconut oil is excellent for skin, because of it's antibacterial properties.  It's also antiviral and antifungal so it could draw out toxins with initial use.  This could cause a pimple or two to appear but stick with it and you'll see results!
(For more on face washing with oil, see Jillee's post {here} on One Good Thing by Jillee's blog.  I've been a believer ever since!

2.  My daughter, who is 8 months pregnant and battles hormonal acne during pregnancy adds an additional 3 drops of doTERRA Melaleuca, along with Lavender and Lemon EOs to customize her swipes.  Melaleuca/tea tree oil is excellent for acne and combined with coconut oil...the swipes become quite powerful in the battle of the pimple!

3.  My skin is aging and, I have a bit of rosacea.  Along with the basic blend of EOs Lavender and Lemon, I add Sea Buckthorn oil.  I've read that it has strong anti-aging properties...and who doesn't need those??

4.  Beauty Swipes are perfect for your early morning skin routine!  My skin is just too dry to wash it at night and in the morning. but a Beauty Swipe first thing, cleans and refreshes my face in one step.

You'll need a package of Bounty Quilted Napkins (it's worth buying high-end napkins!)...

...and a box of wipes approx. 6 1/2" wide.  Tip:  Use the store bought wipes for camp box, workbench or car.

Cut napkins from fold to end until you have 44 halved pieces.  Now stack them in the empty wipe box.

Recipe:
1  1/2 C. very warm water (to melt coconut oil)
1 tablespoon Coconut Oil
1 teaspoon Rubbing Alcohol (for emulsion)
3 drops Lavender EO
3 drops Lemon EO
Add 3 drops of any additional oils to customize now :)

Pour the fragrant coconut water around the stack of napkins slowly...giving the liquid enough time to soak in.  You may want to turn the box upside down for a few minutes for even soaking too.

As far as labeling your Beauty Swipe box, you can have fun designing custom labels or just peel off store labels and use permanent ink pens to personalize!

Beauty Swipes are a joy to use!  I love the convenience of this one-step approach to a cleaner, softer complexion!  They smell divine too :)

Lovely! I can't wait to try. I have been hearing a lot about Melaleuca oil for acne prone skin. Gotta get myself to Whole Foods to get a bottle :)

Can Witch Hazel or some other ingredient be used other than alcohol for the emulsion?

Sounds like a good alternative to hand sanitizers too

Hi, I did a little research on your question and found that others have had success by using an alcohol free witch hazel with aloe vera. It seems aloe vera being a gel, works well with both water and oil so it might be a mild emulsifier.

I'm curious what the cost savings is?

With a repurposed container, and PURE essential oils...approx. $2.15 for 50 beauty swipes...total.

great idea! but is there an alternative that anyone knows of to use instead of the bleached white napkins? I have extremely sensitive skin and I'm afraid the chemically napkin might cancel out the soothing natural ingredients in the wipe solution on my skin :\ I will be def trying this with the witch hazel if I can find a brand of dye, bleach, etc. free napkins! thanks a bunch!

Try small pieces of thin soft cotton cloth (my friend uses squares of her hubbys old t-shirts or undershirts), then wash and reuse! Less paper waste in the landfill! :D

I made these and used them for 4 or 5 days. I bought all of the ingredients new and put them in a brand new container. Then I opened them and saw that mildew was starting to grow and I had to throw out the rest of the wipes. I am now looking for a suitable squirt bottle to apply the solution to the cloth (or cotton round) when I need it. Hopefully, whatever caused contamination before will not affect the solution in the bottle!

Oh no! I've never experienced that here in our dry climate of WY. I noticed you were searching for alternative napkins...did you use something different? Also, perhaps if you reduced the amount of liquid that might help. Not sure a out the squirt bottle as coconut oil will solidify. You might substitute with olive or almond oil. I hope it works for you!

You can try grapefruit seed extract (gse), it acts as a natural preservative. I know vitamin E is an antioxidant, but I don't think it will preserve (I'll have to check into it!) Another easy, and free, option is to keep your container of wipes in the fridge. Very refreshing in the summer! I just warm it between my hands with it still folded, then open it up to wipe my face, if it's too cold. Hope one of these ideas will help you!

I am wondering if apple cider vinegar could be used in place of the alcohol. What do you think? It balances pH and is good for the skin but I don't know if it would mix well... Thoughts?

ACV will most likely be the prominent fragrance, but it is good for the skin. I think you should experiment!

Probably also helps to make sure you sanitise the container even if it is 'brand new'.

Use distiller water to prevent the mold and mildew!
