Deep Scalp Cleanse with EOs & Coconut Oil!
I'm a little crazy about this glossy scalp detox treatment!
Go ahead, let yourself revel in the feel of whipped coconut oil infused with the clean tingling sensation of Rosemary and Melaleuca EOs. Pure Ahhhh!
We scrub and rub moisturizer on our bodies regularly, why don't we give more attention to our poor scalp?
Think of the hair products you use on a daily basis, prolonged use produces buildup, clogged pores and hair follicles. Hair loss and slow hair growth are often caused by the buildup of hardened sebum. Over time this buildup causes flaking and can eventually effect the hair follicles ability to function properly. A little TLC with some DIY ingenuity can get rid of the flakes and give you healthier hair!

- Melaleuca is great for treating dry, flaky skin. You'll be left with a clean, tingling scalp if used on a regular basis. Tip: Put 2 drops of Melaleuca in your favorite shampoo to avoid future buildup and help with any dandruff issues.
- Rosemary stimulates the scalp and promotes faster hair growth. Tip: Add 2 drops of Rosemary to your hairbrush :)
Start with 1/2 Cup of Coconut Oil, add 1 teaspoon Olive Oil.
2 drops Melaleuca
2 drops Rosemary
Now, whip the ingredients together!
If you have an applicator brush like this, with a pointed end to help you make your parts...all the better!
A regular comb will work for parting hair as well but, you'll need a small brush to work the glossy treatment into your thirsty scalp.
It's best to apply to scalp when your hair is dry and it's absolutely okay to comb it down into the hair strands too!
Let the treatment sit on the scalp for 15 minutes. You can cover your head with a towel or shower cap to keep the moisture in.
Now shampoo and condition. Your scalp will continue to feel cool, tingly and clean afterwards, it's such a nice feeling!

I must confess I do not whip the coconut oil. Put everything in a squirt bottle and bombs away at my scalp. Then I heat a towel and wrap it around my head. 1/2 hr later I wash with a natural clarifying shampoo and follow with a vinegar rinse. My "adult cradle cap" is gone after years and years of seeking remedies (which by the way included the medical profession. I've gotten a load of eo's from Spark and they've been very accurate in their descriptions and very speedy in their delivery!
Do you use all of this recipe in one go? It seemed like a lot of coconut oil, so I halved the oils but it took about 6 washes to get rid of it!
That's about right for me too, 6 washes worth...for the recipe listed.
Do we use the whole recipe in one use? Also, about how many times will it take to wash this out?
Noooo, just as much as you need to massage into scalp. You could get 3 to 4 uses out of one recipe.
i tried this last night, and ohhh, is my hair soft! i have extremely dry hair, so it only took 2 apps of shampoo to wash out. how often do i use this and how long does it keep?
thanks
I recommend once a week but that's just a rule of thumb...you might need a different frequency :)
What do you mean with "cup"? Something like a tea cup? I was not really sure. Thanks in advance for your feedback and of course for this recipe :-).

Revita Shampoo is amongthe most beneficial growth of hair rousing hair shampoo on the market today.
Contains valuable resources specially created to keep head vitality along with act in hair follicle complications.
Martina - a "cup" is the American measure for cooking/baking, and it equals 8 fluid ounces. So...a "half cup" equals 4 fluid ounces, about 118 ml.
1 cup = 8 oz, so since it calls for 1/2 cup, that's 4 oz
Aren't you worried about the coconut oil clogging up your pipes?
Ive been using it for years and it hasn't been problem yet. I don't use coconut oil in the shower or bath every day, only on occasion :)
This worked very well for my curly hair! I shampooed once with sulfate-free shampoo. I could feel that there was still a slight trace of oil at my scalp, but I tried it on the weekend so I figured I'd go with it. The risk paid off, and my curls seemed to have more definition and lift at the roots. I definitely recommend this.
I have a question. What kind of natural clarifying shampoo do you use? I tried a diy with baking soda in whatever kind of shampoo and I'm sure that's not the natural way to go considering shampoos tend to cause product buildup.
Angie, try this as your final rinse - I love it for clarifying and, it seems to speed my hair growth.

May I ask where do I get these oils?
Melaleuca = Tea Tree oil?
Yes :)
Sorry for being naive, but do you put the 2 drops of Melaleuca in your favorite shampoo when you squirt it in your hand or in the bottle? Thanks! Also has anyone used the Rosemary & Lavender Hair Rinse after this treatment or should they not be done at the same time?
I have a six year old grandson with eczema and his scalp itches all the time. Is it safe for him?
can i use it on my wee daughters head? she is five
Can I add a few drops of peppermint oil to this mixture as well?
Add the 2 drops of Melaleuca to your single serving of shampoo, pure essential oils shouldn't be put in plastic as they will leach petrochemicals from the plastic.
You can absolutely use the Rosemary, Lavender and ACV Rinse afterwards :)
Yes, pure essential oils would be safe to use.
Yes, pure essential oils would be safe to use :)
Absolutely!
How do you store the excess? ? What type of container?? Do you store it in fridge or room temp??
Can you use just coconut oil and don't add anything else
Out of curiosity, can this cleanse be used on ethnic hair?
Yes! I have used it on my niece's hair, she is mulatto and it works wonderfully. I also use it on my son's hair, he is a quarter and it makes his hair super soft and his curls really defined. Good luck!
Yes :) I use just oil
Room temp and in a glass jar. You can use a mason jar if you'd like. The coconut oil has a very low melting point so once you take it out of the container it will be easy to work into your scalp. Hope that helps
When you run hot water after oil, such as you do in the shower, the oil stays melted until it leaves your house. For almost 10 years now I actually have dumped my cooking grease down my drains followed by 5 minutes of hot water. I've never had a problem with clogs or smells :) and the coconut oil going down your shower drain may help to breakdown any buildup from your hair care products & soaps since it may break down the oils?
Cooking grease should NEVER go down the drain! While the hot water flush may keep it liquid enough to make it away from your house's plumbing, it's a nightmare for the city wastewater system once it does cool enough to harden! Oils that solidify at room temp should ALWAYS be disposed of in the garbage!
a good way to dispense oil so it does not cause any problems in your pluming n in the wastewater system, is to wait for it to cool and put it in a jar. Example of jars at no extra cost are the ones that you buy for the food that it has inside like fruits, spaghetti sauce, olives, etc.
As far as for the oil that comes off your hair that you use for hair care will go down the drain just fine but I put a bit of baking soda and vinegar down the drain and leave it for about 15 minutes and then rinse with hot water and since these kinds of treatments are not done on a daily bases it is doable.
