Make Your Own Brand Name EO Blends!

The DIY Versions!

Immortelle, On Guard, Aroma Touch, DigestZen, GX Cleanse

_______________________________________________________________

In my EO travels I've come across several good substitutes for a few popular blends.  The "make your own" blends have saved me money and saved the day more than a few times!  I've shared some of them before but here's my favorite DIY blends all in one post.

DIY Immortelle

Equal parts Frankincense, Lavender and Cypress
{I now add an equal part of Helichrysum but this is optional}
50% carrier oil

Before the release of Immortelle, Dr. David Hill recommended the above combination of EOs.  I've used this combination in a variation of my Coconut Oil Cleanser and Coconut Oil Eye Makeup Remover.   I like to keep this blend in a roller bottle for ease of use.

Did you know?

Long term use of DIY Immortelle around your eyes (not too close) has helped some improve their eyesight and soften fine lines if used regularly.

Tough headache?
Apply DIY Immortelle blend at base of neck, temples and forehead followed by a layer of Peppermint!

Anti-Aging Salve Blend!  Next time you make a batch of CW All Purpose Healing Salve, switch up the EOs to create a rich anti-aging salve.  This is one of my favorite body moisturizers after a shower or bath.  Emollient lip balm too!

Thieves Oil, Shield or On Guard

Jill @ The Prairie Homestead made me a happy camper when she posted this recipe!  I don't care what brand of EOs you prefer, this recipe should be in your EO Journal just in case. your favorite EO line.

Make Your Own Thieve's Oil Blend
_____________________________________________

20 drops Clove
18 drops Lemon
10 drops Cinnamon Bark
8 drops Eucalyptus
5 drops Rosemary

Jill notes that she also adds 5 drops each of Melaleuca and Frankincense for extra strength protection but, this is optional.

Store blend in dark glass bottle, double or triple recipe if needed.
Warning - some EOs contained in this blend are considered HOT oils, dilute with a carrier oil for topical applications.

DigestZen
{from Dr. Sue Lawton}

I wrote this blend down several months ago and liked it so well I started blending my own, refilling the DZ empty bottle more than a few times.  Great for stomach upset, cramping, bloating, vomiting and all things digestive.  The blend can be taken internally or massaged on abdomen.  I've found that it's most effective internally but that's just my two cents.  Keep this in your bag along with a few empty capsules while traveling.

3 drops Basil
3 drops Clove
2 drops Thyme
2 drops Rosemary
2 drops Coriander
1 drop Ginger
1 drop Peppermint

Multiple the recipe for convenience.  Apply topically, or take 4 drops in a capsule internally as needed.

DIY Aroma Touch

Equal parts Cypress, Lavender and Marjoram

Much like Frankincense, this blend works as a "driver" when applying EOs to sore, strained muscles.  An easy application for sore muscles, apply equal parts Lavender and Peppermint - follow with a layer of DIY AromaTouch and feel relief!  Good all by itself for tight neck and shoulders, a good neuropathy blend too. FYI:  When massaging oils into the skin on arms and legs it's wise to massage towards the heart for better circulation.

DIY GX Assist

This is a protocol that Dr. Hill recommended before GX Assist (dT product) was released in 2009.  What I like about this?  I always have Lemon, Melaleuca and Oregano in my Travel Kit enough to get the protocol started anyway.  This is a great recipe to remember if you or someone you're with has a "flare-up" and you're away from home, don't leave home without it.

5 drops Lemon
5 drops Melaleuca
5 drops Oregano

Take in a capsule 2x daily for 10 to 14 days.  Rest two weeks and repeat protocol.

Thank you so much for posting these!

Do you have any advice on mixing up a breathe-like blend?

Can GX Assist be applied topically?

And should these blends be diluted with FCO?

I don't have a Breathe blend, sorry. GX can be applied topically and, the above blends can be applied NEAT but you can choose to dilute them if you like :))

I just adore your posts. This one helps so much, broken down. But how much oil should be added to the different DIY's, if need?

I see you promote both DoTerra and Spark Naturals. Can you tell if Spark Naturals is the same quality and effectiveness as Doterra? I'm just not sure where to start with EO's and I've heard Doterra is the best. But the pricing of Spark is tempting. Thanks!

Dani, both lines have excellent quality. SN allows for easier access and more savings, dT requires a membership but has more items like supplements etc. Now there's more options for EVERYONE :))

Thanks for all these recipes! I'm curious what the difference is between cinnamon leaf oil and cinnamon bark oil that you call for you in the Thieves Oil blend.

Rebecca, why not lemon, eucalyptus, citronella, or lemongrass for TerraShield? I've been making bug balms and all the recipes call for these. Just wondering?

Loving this post, just came across it via Pintrest! Recently ran out of thieves oil which I use in place of traditional toothpaste. Is your DIY version also acceptable for this use?

I have a quick question. I have clove bud EO in my EO arsenal. I see that some of the recipes call for Clove EO. Are clove bud EO and clove EO interchangeable?

This is fabulous!!!! thank you so much!!! I love the Immortelle blend. I do have a question for you though. I have a good friend who has had multiple surgeries on her knee. She uses Panaway from YL but the price tag is getting harder and harder for her to afford. She came to me for help. ;-) Is there a homemade version of this that you could recommend?

Sara, you might consider the homemade aromatouch. Another option that I love for localized pain is Spark Naturals Relief blend because of the Birch in it. However, if your friend is allergic to aspirin or on blood thinners Birch is best avoided for it's natural aspirin properties.

Thank you so much!! I will pass the info on over to her. I really appreciate the help.
