Yet another use for one of my favorite all purpose containers, the Altoid tin.
Out here in the West, the first round of cold and flu season has hit hard. I've been asked about 342 times how to stop the bugs in their tracks and I've written about how to stop these viruses in their tracks. However, I've yet to provide you with a simple way to share a few oils to help the coughing, sneezing, congested friend or family member feel better and, find out first hand about the power of essential oils. It's in times of need that doTERRA's essential oils really shine.
Drip a few samples and share some wellness!
Here's a list of what you'll need + a cost breakdown!
One Altoid tin $1.50
Four doTERRA On Guard Throat Drops @ .47 ea.
6 Gelcaps @ .05 ea. (available at health food stores)
Three 5/8 dram glass bottles {found here} @ .33 ea
- 30 drops Melaleuca @ .08 drop = $2.40
- 30 drops On Guard @ .13 drop = $3.90
- 18 drops Oregano @ .08 drop = $1.44
Total = $12.32 for {6} or *$8.40 for {3} Cold & Flu Bombs!
*(using half the drops listed)
For just a few minutes of your time and less than a pizza, you can save a friend or a loved one missed work days, a visit to the doctor, far reaching spread of a nasty cold and flu virus and, days of unnecessary suffering!
For less than a pizza, you can give wellness and, create a teaching moment all in one nice gesture!
Enjoy healing the world one friend at a time!

Sorry, I don't understand. Do I take internally or rub on my feet?
ReplyDeleteYou can do either one. The term "neat" means to apply essential oils directly to the skin without dilution. You can also down the oils in a little water...like a shot glass!
DeleteWonderful idea!
ReplyDeleteMy Costco didn't have Altoids so I found this site online and ordered the tins. They are awesome - and you can add your own labels on top!

Oh my gosh....thanks for sharing this website! Now that I have a 3 yr supply of Altoids, I can go generic ;)
DeleteThanks! This is a great idea!
ReplyDeleteI love this idea! I was thinking a travel soap case would work as well. Either way, I'm definitely going to make up a few of these.
ReplyDeleteI love you blog and the email updates from you. I have been trying to find an email address so I could email you to find out if you need a carrier oil with the eye drops with frankincense, cypress and lavender?
ReplyDeleteThanks for your help,Jocelan
Hi Jocelan, I don't use a carrier oil but if you're sensitive to Lavender you might want to. Remember to dab a little around the facial bones surrounding your eyes...you don't need much :)
DeleteWhat size Gel capsules do you use? I found size 0 and 00. Not sure which to get.
ReplyDeleteHi Mary, I usually buy the larger capsule (size 00) so there's plenty of room for oil.
DeleteI have tea tree oil, is that the same as melaleuca?
ReplyDeleteHey Christine, Yes tea tree is the same as melaleuca. Melaleuca is the scientific name, it is usually on the bottle also. Although some brands may not do that, put both, I would use up what you have and by a brand that does...means it is better quality.
ReplyDeleteHow far in advance can you make up the capsules?? Or do you just have them so you can fill them when needed?? Thank you!! PS I love your information!
ReplyDeleteIt's best to fill them as you need them. Some capsules are better than others...and I've learned the hard way not to trust that they'll hold the oils for a long period of time!
DeleteGreat idea, but I would use the "flu bomb" recipe....
ReplyDeleteRebecca, you can also buy the tins at www.papermart.com - click on the metal tins link, some have window(see through)! Comes with different sizes/shapes too. I enjoyed reading your blog & your sister Jillie...
ReplyDeleteThank you for the idea. I used the last of my On Guard this morning; Dropped some in every mouth that was coughing. For the last 10 days everyone coming through has been sick, everyone got rubbed down and dosed with anything and everything dealing with congestion, cough, runny nose (peppermint, cypress, maleluca, lavender,On Guard). All of them left feeling better and able to breathe. My husband and I did not suffer much since we have been using the oils regularly.
ReplyDeleteGreat news Lucille! Now it's time to stock up on the On Guard while it's on sale :)
DeleteYour Ideas are amazing! I love this tin and have so many friends that do not live near-by me that get sick and I want to help. I am going to make a bunch of these up and mail them out!! Of course with my business card etc.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Deletehas anyone ever told you that you are "the Martha Stewart of doTERRA essential oils"??? Thanks so much for your amazing posts and fantastic recipes!
ReplyDeleteIf applied to feet do I do each recipe per foot or just one foot fine?
ReplyDeleteHi Jenny, apply to each foot :))
