Silky Lavender Shave Cream

I stole borrowed this recipe from my sister's blog,  One Good Thing by Jillee because it's lovely!   Stop and think about it, shaving with Lavender {men like it} then splashing with Lime ~ heaven for everyone!  Here we go, on to the Shave...

2/3 cup coconut oil
2/3 cup shea butter
1/4 cup olive oil {almond or grapeseed works too}
10 drops lavender essential oil
2 teaspoons *baking soda

In a small saucepan over low heat, combine the shea butter and coconut oil, stirring until just melted. Remove from the heat and add the olive oil and Lavender. Stir to mix.

Transfer to a bowl or jar and refrigerate until solid.

Remove from the refrigerator and let soften slightly. Add the 2 teaspoons of baking soda (*baking soda helps remove oils which allows the razor to cut better and last longer and acts as a mild exfoliant). whip using a hand beater or a stand mixer until light and fluffy – about 2-3 minutes.  Store in a cool, dry place.

Spoon into a container & share the love!

This sounds really good! I've been a big fan of your blog and your sisters.
I was wondering once you make this shaving cream or All Purpose Healing Salve, how long do they last in a room temp.? My healing salve has small white spots after 3rd week...

Nawa, what kind of coconut oil did you use and EOs?

Tried the Lavender Shave Cream recipe and it gunks up the razor...too thick and greasy . I DID remember to add the baking soda but, this did not seem to help . I followed the recipe and instructions to a tee...have you had other complaints ?

Hi Rebecca! I used Nutiva Coconut Oil and dT Brand EOs Melaleuca, Lavender, Lemon for All Purpose and Lemon, Lavender and Peppermint for LLP Salve.
I made Jeddy's blend salve but don't see any white spots. I thought these salves don't go bad that soon as the EOs have anti-fungal, ant-bacterial property... Or my beeswax (didn't get mixed well?) started to reappear because the weather is getting cold...??

Question, are you seeing white spots...or, white granules? It could be the coconut oil or, the pastilles weren't fully melted.

They are white granules. When I apply the salve on the skin, they melt in. Is it okay to leave them as is or shall I re-melt the entire salve again? I use All Purpose Healing Salve often on my toddler's bottom to prevent from having a diaper rash so I was little concerned.
If I put germs into the salve from my hands...

I have an abundance of cocoa butter, can it be substituted for the shea? *Love your blog, btw!*

I've had this happen from time to time too...usually when I add Frankincense, but I still use it. You can't contaminate the salve, everything in it is antibacterial, antifungal and antimicrobial :)
