Improve Homework Retention with Aromatherapy

Try this ~ a little aromatherapy can help!

Students have a lot of homework, adults often bring work home too.  Keeping the mind alert after a long day is hard especially when it's a subject or task that you have absolutely no interest in but you're required to get it done anyway!

What is the hardest part about studying?  Remembering what you just read right?  This is where using EOs come in with some help from a tried and true aromatherapy technique.

5 drops Grapefruit
5 drops Lime
2 drops Black Pepper
2 drops Peppermint
1 drop Rosemary

Choose a special EO blend to use only during study time.  I like this blend from Valerie Worwood for alertness to which I've added a drop of Rosemary for memory and mental acuity, it smells herby with a pinch of "wake up" from the Peppermint.

Using a crumpled tissue...

...or a diffuser

Add 2 drops of the "homework" blend to a tissue to inhale or, add 8 drops to your diffuser.  Begin diffusing a few minutes before any study session.

The beauty of aromatherapy allows the information studied or memorized to be associated with the special aroma you've chosen used ONLY during study time.  When it comes time to retain the information studied - right before a test, prior to a speech you've memorized or before an important meeting, inhaling that same blend at the right time will "prompt" your brain to bring up the same information connected to the aroma.

Tips for Improved Retention
_____________________________________

Use one scent per school subject.  This could be a single essential oil or a blend but use the same one every time.

Only breathe in the aroma when you need to remember the information studied.  If you use it too often, the brain/memory will get confused.

Use an aroma that you have no association with, something completely new and only use it for study time.

What a great idea! This would be a great place to use the scent oil blends. That way she doesn't have to spout off math facts when she gets a scrape. ;-)
