Lullaby Sleep Blends For Kids & Adults

Sleep, everyone needs it & everyone wants more of it!

I dedicate this post to all sleep deprived Moms and the rest of you sleepless people looking for a few more zzzzzzz's :))

Let's start with the universal favorite, Lavender.

Most everyone recognizes that Lavender is calming and an active stress reducer but did you know Lavender can actually reduce levels of cortisol released into the body?  This gentle, fragrant essential oil is my go-to sleep aid and I use it in various ways...

Diffuse, apply directly to bed linens and/or massage on the bottoms of your feet.  Safe for children, adults and even rambunctious dogs and horses!

Lavender ~ Vetiver Blend

If you're looking for something with more sleep inducing octane, add Vetiver!  A favorite blend in our family is this...

1 part Lavender
1 part Vetiver

Combined in a roller bottle!

{ For the kiddos, make a small adjustment by adding 1 part fractionated coconut oil }

The Hibernation Blend says, "come hither" to sleep!

Equal parts of Frankincense, Bergamot, Roman Chamomile and Vetiver, a restful combination of essential oils!  Just looking at this combination relaxes me...

{ Remember to add 1 part fractionated coconut oil for kids under 6 }

You can find an assortment of glass roller bottles {HERE}.

Diffusing the Hibernation Blend is wonderful too!

zzzzzzz...

Is it NAPTIME yet?

Another W O N D E R F U L blend for relaxing small and large persons alike is the Peaceful Child Blend.  I highly recommend diffusing this in your home an hour or two before bedtime!

This is my own rendition of Peaceful Child and as you can see, the blend calls for an investment of essential oils!

Deborah Gardner, the creator of Peaceful Child Blend would be happy to provide you with her beautiful blend for a reasonable price :)

She also has a beautiful website with extensive information on just how many ways this blend can help kids and adults alike with ADHD, ADD and a multitude of other issues...

Many, many families including my own depend on this blend for peace and calm in the home and at school.

Lavender & Marjoram

I pretty much have the greatest people visit Camp Wander, both the blog and Facebook page.  I learn new things from these fabulous people everyday, this "Lullaby Blend" is one of them!  Diane H. and Jill S. offered this brilliant EO combo up.  Here's Jill's successful, secret blend!

Jill’s Sleepy Time Blend:
  • 16 drops of lavender
  • 16 drops of marjoram
  • 30 drops of fractioned coconut oil
  • Mix them into a 10ml roller bottle then apply to temples, chest, and behind ears before bedtime.  This is also a wonderful blend to diffuse in any bedroom at night.  Relax and enjoy a peaceful nights rest.

You can learn more about Jill's large family, fantastic Sleepy Time Blend, her secrets to keeping anxiety AND allergies under control all wrapped up with lots of her amazing photography {HERE}!

One more idea before I say goodbye...

Give the GIFT of Sleep!

Next baby shower, birthday for a nephew, niece or grand baby...have fun creating a Sleep Pack of Lullaby Blends, a gift that keeps on giving!

p.s.  a package of cute stickers make the blends even more fun!

I just made a bottle of the Sleepy Time Blend. It is 1:29am and I can't sleep. I rolled it behind my ears, neck, put on my temples and chest. Oh boy is it hitting me. Good stuff, I can now go to bed. Thanks for sharing that so I can now salvage some sleep.

Omg this is such a timely post! I am having such issues with postpartum insomnia. I can't wait to try these blends. Do you think these would be ok to diffuse in a nursery? If so, for how young a baby and how much would you use? Thanks so much; love your blog!

I know this may sound like a stupid question, but when you say diffuse in your home, how do you diffuse? Also, I see you have the roller bottles but then there is a dropper too? Help me please,,,,,I understand the roller part, but for which and when and how often would you use the dropper for?

At March 7, 2013 at 3:15 PM , Blogger Rebecca said...

To diffuse you need a diffuser which I mention throughout the blog because they're amazing!

The eye dropper is useful for adding a few drops to the diffuser from a roller bottle. Simply pop the roller off and use your eye dropper!

Do you put FCO in your hibernation blend when putting it into a 1/3 oz roller bottle? I saw somewhere to use 20 drops each oil and then top it off with FCO. I am going to try to make this up for my mother in law who is suffering with sleep deprivation and I want to be sure I do it correctly. Thanks in advance!

You certainly can! Another simple but extremely effective SLEEP remedy is plain old Slim and Sassy blend on the bottom of feet and pads of toes before bed. I had no idea of this FABULOUS sleep aid when I wrote this blog post so Im sharing it with you now :)) I use it every night and sleep so restfully!
