How I Kicked The Bottled Water Habit!!

For some time now, I've been hooked on bottled water.  I know, there are worse things to be hooked on but seriously, what about all that plastic?!  Now that's serious!

Plastic pollutes the earth.
Plastic corrodes my body.
Plastic is expensive.
Plastic is wasteful.

Plastic is devious.  I had no ideas how much I was consuming until I started recycling!  It was a wake~up call and I had to do something about it.

A few weeks ago, after decades of buying bottled water I  found a secret that's been working and, it's so simple!  Simple works for me.  In fact, have you ever noticed how a Win/Win situation is always S I M P L E?

Here's my story, my simple story :)  Two weeks ago, my family was in Newport Beach, CA for my brother's wedding.  One morning my sister, JoAnn and I wandered into this place...

...and this "tall drink of water" caught my eye!

An attractive, streamlined glass bottle with a pop-up lid and a locking handle.  {Glass} being the key word here because plastic and essential oils DO NOT play well together.  I justified this purchase by deciding I might drink more water if could add essential oils.  And hey, what about all that plastic I have to dump at the recycle center.  What are the health benefits and, would I commit to this?

My bottle of Lemon essential oil came to mind, Grapefruit joined the conversation too!  As I already mentioned, simple just works and it's almost ALWAYS a Win Win outcome.  Here's a list of Lemon's winning ways when mixed with plain old tap water.

A couple drops of Lemon in my reusable {glass} water bottle brings me so many benefits that include beauty, health, healing and an instant hit of revitalizing aromatherapy every time I pop the lid for a drink of Lemon water!

Or, a couple drops of Grapefruit (my fav!) in my reusable {glass} water bottle for  a cleansing and refreshing, fat chasing cocktail.  It's also a great diuretic, stimulant and, one of the few essential oils that can cut a Diet Coke withdrawal headache.  Grapefruit is one of the essential oils I'm drawn to, I also moisturize with it!  {click here} to learn more about the beautifying attributes of Grapefruit essential oil.

For an extra treat, add some of the citrus oils to sparkling water and suddenly a glass of water takes on new meaning!

Once again, here's even more proof that doTERRA essential oils are fabulous for changing lives and improving the planet.  I'm relieved that I've cut my plastic bottle consumption to almost nothing...I regretted every bottle I threw away!  Now that I know Lemon or Grapefruit is gracing my drinking water, I no longer have an aversion to tap water!

Yet another S I M P L E change you can make in your life with ground breaking benefits!

doTERRA essential oils are my kind of  S I M P L E.

You mention Grapefruit essential oil cut your Diet Coke withdrawal headache. I'm guessing it would do the same with any soft drink, correct? My drink of choice is Pepsi and I know I drink way too many.
Thanks for all the wonderful info you share.

Lynn, although Grapefruit worked for my headache, you may be different...maybe peppermint or lavender would work better for you. Essential oils are that way, sometimes we need to experiment with several to get the optimal effect!

Thanks, when I'm able to get some I'll start my experiment! =)

I am loving all these posts you have on essential oils! What kind of store can I find them at? Are certain ones better than others?
Also, you said essential oils don't go well with plastic, why is that?

Glad to know it's my oils killing my plastic! My diffuser is looking bad. My tumblers look bad. So how do you handle glass bottles with 4 kiddos??? Guess that's something to figure out!

So my question is: Is the Doterra diffuser glass??
Thanks
Julie

Molly, doTERRA is a consumer to consumer company so you'll need to find a doTERRA rep to purchase their essential oils. I have a link at the top of this page that would take you to doTERRA where you can do some investigating! If you haven't already...come over to Camp Wander on Facebook, lots of info and ideas there too :) https://www.facebook.com/CampWander
I'd be happy to help with questions about doTERRA there...just message me!

doTERRA's essential oils are pure and potent...when put in plastic petrochemicals begin to leach out. If you're going to drink or ingest these oils always do so from glass containers!

Julie, how about stainless steel tumblers?
No, the doTERRA diffuser is a hard plastic. Mine is almost 2 yrs old and is fine...my only only issue is mineral build up because I don't bother with distilled water.

Molly, that famous, Seattle based coffee shop has those glass water bottles with the silicone wrap. I just found one on clearance for half price - usually at the bigger stores.

Tap water is very bad for you! I fill gallon glass bottles with diffused water. http://lynleahz.com/2012/10/15/sodium-fluoride-poison-in-the-tap-water/ http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2012/02/04/jeff-green-on-fluoride-toxins-part-2.aspx I wish I could find spring water in glass bottles!

Just wondering. I like to add lemon juice to water to make it drinkable but my dentist is always fussing at me saying it removes the enamel from my teeth so I have cut back on the lemon juice. Are the lemon and grapefruit essential oils acidic like the juice? Will it remove the enamel from my teeth or can I make my dentist happy?

It's the juice of the fruit that's acidic...you will make you dentist happy by using essential oil in your water instead :))

So I found a glass bottle from Lifefactoty and it has a silicon straw. My question is - the cap itself seems to be plastic (including the top most portion of the straw). How careful do I need to be about the plastic/citrus oil issue. When thinking about it - the little drip liners in the EO bottles themselves are plastic too - so... what's the deal??? Please help clarify! I also bought a glass spray bottle to put some water and lemon EO in for cleaning - but the 'straw' on that glass bottle is also plastic (as is the screw on spray top...) I am so confused...

How do you get the EO infused into the water without it sitting on top?
