3 Strategies for Anxiety Relief!
Anxiety disorders are the most common of emotional disorders and affect more than 25 million people in this country. Many members of my family struggle with anxiety so this is a very personal issue for me to write about. Without going into all the various types of anxiety, today I'm simply going to offer some ideas and remedies that have helped others with their anxiety challenges and should be shared with family and friends.
Remedy #1
Recently, I wrote about a very special blend of essential oils called, The Peaceful Child Blend. I've mixed this blend for a couple of very important people in my life, my "80 something" Dad and my 5 yr old grand daughter.
While this blend was originally designed with children in mind and is indeed very effective for our sweet kids with ADD and ADHD, it's also wonderfully grounding for adults. Anxiety is the opposite of "grounded", wouldn't you agree? Many adults have found that The Peaceful Child Blend is very helpful in calming their anxieties as they go about their day.
~ Application ~
Daytime: Roll on wrists so you can breathe in the grounding scent of the oils when needed.
Night: Apply to the bottoms of feet then layer with Lavender for a peaceful rest.
P.S. If you want to try a smaller recipe first, you can find it {HERE}.
Remedy #2
This simple routine was suggested by a woman of a certain age :) I love that term of endearment! She uses three doTERRA essential oils to control her anxiety. Elevation Blend: A blend of Lavandin, Tangerine, Elemi, Lemon Mrytle, Melissa, Ylang Ylang, Osmanthus and Sandalwood.
Serenity Blend: A blend of Lavender, Sweet Marjoram, Roman Chamomile, Ylang Ylang, Sandalwood and Vanilla Bean Extract.
Lavender: Has calming and sedative properties. May help lift feelings of depression and anxiety.
The uplifting combination of all 3 essential oils creates an energetic aroma that can help stimulate the body's chemistry when a person is feeling lethargic and sad.
~ Application ~
Morning: A drop of Elevation with a carrier oil rubbed over the heart.
Daytime: Serenity on wrists, breathe in scent when feeling anxious.
Night: Lavender on the bottoms of feet for a peaceful rest.
Remedy #3
Therapeutic Bath Salts
Add 1 to 2 drops each of Balance Blend and Lavender along with a 1/4 Cup of Epsom Salt, dissolve in warm bathwater for an anxiety-relieving bath.
While life is beautiful, there are a multitude of very real moments during everyone's day that create stress, doubt and worry leaving us feeling vulnerable and alone. You are NOT alone! 25 million people are challenged by anxiety. You deserve to find a way to keep yourself centered and calm, I hope an idea or two I've offered will help you find your balance.

I am so glad for this post!!! So what (one) do you recommend for newfound anxiety....
We have not struggled w this before and my hubby is a rising executive. All of a sudden he found himself in panic attacks...not able to make a decision, feeling overwhelmed w work, yet not able to shut it off...consumed w it....nothing left...he also said all of a sudden at work he was all over the place and not accomplishing what he normally would....
Which combo would you think would be best??
First of all, I would start him on the Life Long Vitality Pack. If you have time, there's a webinar tonight on this very product (I'll be on it too!) It's free and it starts at 7pm MDT so depending on where you are, adjust the time accordingly. It sounds to me like your hubby needs ALOT of grounding and a strong immune system to boot! I would put him on Life Long Vitality Pack and the Peaceful Blend. The blend actually smells quite masculine, thankfully! But if it's on his feet and over his heart...if anyone smells anything, it would be very faint. Put Lavender on his feet at night and/or diffuse in the bedroom for restful sleep. Check his diet, if he drinks soda....try the the natural energy drink I blogged about...as a UPS driver it saw me through LOTS of stress and physical exercise. Either way, watch his diet and cut back on sugar! Here's the link to the webinar so you can register. Give yourself some time to do this because you might have to d/l some software. I use the same program for our webinars...so I know it's safe :)

Thank you! I have been looking for new ways to control my anxiety and PTSD without additional medication. I don't think people realize how prevalent anxiety is in our population. The cultural norm is to ignore or insult it. We think it is a sign of weakness. This is simply not the case. Anxiety comes from a deeper survival mechanism to help us when we are in times of stress. If we can learn to embrace and focus our anxiety, not ignore or allow it to overwhelm us, then we can use it to be sharper and more energetic during times of stress.
I missed the webinar. How can I get the information that was shared?
Thanks so much for answering, i totally missed the webinar since I forgot to check back till now. I def think he needs a better immune system because he has IBS pretty bad, and i have him on digesten and a few others, we also do the lavender. So we will give this a try, so when he puts it over his heart, is it once a day? or when? Thanks again for your help!1 Appreciate it!
Morning and night Colleen :)
Hello Rebecca,
I greatly appreciate this posting. I was diagnosed with a social phobia disorder when I was 14, I am now 20; so I've been dealing with this for some time now. I have tried multiple antidepressants; nothing has worked. In fact, my experience with drugs was quite harsh. I told myself, never again with the medicine. I have been researching and following Dr. Oz as much as possible to find safer alternatives. So I got L-Theanine pills (which Oz recommended). No improvement. From the time I was diagnosed, until now, I have been unable to finish school or gain work experience. This is very embarrassing for me... I'm just not myself... Or who I USE to be! I am thankful for your posting because I am excited to try a safe, healthy alternative.
I would like to know what you would recommend for my situation. I use to have terrible anxiety attacks, but I have learned to gain better control over them. Now, I just fear public places, such as grocery stores. I do not like being alone, will not take public transportation, or even walk around the corner without my pup or another person by my side. I can't even place an order over the phone for a pizza. It's that bad.
I feel silly asking someone who is not a doctor. I do not want to bother you with my issues. I just feel that you know much about essential oils, and their properties. Seeing that it touches home for you, having relatives who suffer from anxiety, perhaps you could tell me how to custom ingredients to my needs?
I am very new to essential oils, so I have not heard of most that you have mentioned. Quite frankly, reading all the different remedies is a bit overwhelming for me. I also do not know where to purchase essential oils at a low cost... If you could assist with that? I thank you so so much for your postings and your efforts! :^)
P.S. I have read your response to Colleen in regards to her husband. I, myself, do not consume much sugar.

Jacqueline, I can't tell you that essential oils will cure the intense anxiety you're experiencing but you can use them to calm and relax yourself during bad episodes. The Peaceful Child Blend is wonderful for adults as well as children. You could try a drop of Vetiver massaged on the bottoms of your feet mixed with a little carrier oil. Massaging a drop or two of Balance Blend over your heart and on your wrists is another option for daytime anxiety. Applying Balance to your wrist allows you to breathe in the essential oil aroma during the day during especially anxious moments. I would suggest diffusing a Lavender and Balance Blend combination in your home to create a sense of calm and peace. Aromatherapy is a powerful way to change or create atmosphere and reinforce positive reactions and feelings during trying moments.
I would of course suggest you try doTERRA essential oils because I believe them to be the purest and most potent on the market. You can click on my link above for more information about purchasing doTERRA. I wish you the best, I hope I've given you some ideas and thank you for your questions and comments! Kindly, Rebecca
I love your blog! I became an essential oil and dōTERRA fan this fall when I was struggling with overwhelming anxiety and unresolved grief issues. Lavender, Balance, peppermint... They literally changed me and my life. Here is the kicker... I have no sense of smell! It's hard for me to imagine how powerful the oils must be when you can access the aromatherapy part of their therapeutic value, because my experience using internally and topically was so profound.
What a great testimonial! Thanks so much for sharing :))
Would you mind sharing your protocol with the rest of us?? Thank you!
Hi Rebecca,
I have expanded my essential use greatly from when I started using dōTERRA this fall, but I still use Balance on my wrists, temples and the back of my neck. Also a drop of peppermint and lavender in a glass of water. I did/do this regularly and in times of need. It was like night and day as far as my ability to cope with anxiety and to help heal from some tremendous, lingering grief.
I have nasal polyps which developed from increasing, chronic allergies since I moved to the Pacific Northwest. Until I am able to relocate to a drier climate and then have surgery, I will be unable to smell. I do have "glimmers" of smell from time to time, last time I did, I raced to my oils and opened them and almost fell over from the amazing experience, I was high for days! I have always been attracted to aromatherapy but never considered trying it because I had never been exposed to a food or therapeutic grade oil. My husband is a chiropractor and has a holistic healthcare practice, he started using dōTERRA and I began to wonder if they could help me even though I couldn't smell. I read a ton on the subject and then realized I could ingest dōTERRA and learned how it works topically, I was so excited. I'm not exaggerating when I say that I have tried every natural and holistic approach to my anxiety and allergies, and these oils blew me away. I'm a better mother, wife, and individual. My days are fun, I'm optimistic, I am enjoying life. I even became an IPC even though I had not planned to work until my daughter was older. I feel like I'm on a mission! Thanks for your interest, I've been working on starting a blog about my adventures with essential oils, I'll post a link when that day comes, hopefully very soon. ~ Cat Lieberknecht
I'm so amazed by your story, it's such a great reminder for me to appreciate all my senses and never take them for granted. I can almost imagine the fleeting moments you speak of when your sense of smell returns for a short time. I'd run for my oils too!
Like you, I feel that I'm on a mission too, it's so apparent to me that the world is ready to hear about these oils. I never in a million years thought I would be advocating them to the world, I much preferred my quiet little mind blowing moments of wellness while enjoying my oils. I can't be quiet any longer though..the information needs to wrap around the planet many times over. I would love to share your message too...let me know when your blog is kickin, I'll share it far and wide :))
Thank you again for sharing your experience, so grateful for your happiness and success!
Hi Rebecca, Can you please tell me what order you mix the peaceful child blend? I have heard that order definitely matters because if you mix it in a different order, then the chemical composition can change and it will end up different. I have also heard that Lavendar is used. Have you made it using that oil? If so, what order would it fall in? Thanks in advance!
If I were to create my own serenity blend at home, do you know the approx. number drops of each? -- Thank you in advance!
Can you please repost what the "smaller recipe" is? The "click here" on your site doesn't work. Can I just cut everything in half? Thanks
Yes Maria, you can half the recipe :)
