The only essential oil I have tried is Lavender and that is because on Pinterest i found a "home remedy" for outside insects! I don't know who well it really worked but it smelled lovely! I actually was thinking about trying to find some oils to make your handcream but didn't know where to shop for them. Health food store? I found the lavender at Walmart.

I love using oils. Tea tree is my go to oil for everything, mosquito bites, zits, mouth sores, fever blisters. When I worked at a school I added tea tree to my shampoo to keep lice away. Evidently it worked. Never had them. Lol I also love patchouli. I dab a very small amount behind my ears. Mmmmmmm, love it. Just a few of what I use.

I am new to essential oils, but I am officially in love with them. My husband is battling cancer & I want to use all natural ingredients to clean, freshen, cook, brighten & treat all things in our house. All the recipes that I have found using essential oils have been amazing! I love the lavender the best for my severe case of insomnia... Ok well, I love the peppermint the best because it makes everything smell so clean... Ok well, I love the tea tree the best because I just love how it heals... So, you see, I love them all... They are wonderful, amazing, awesome & I am so glad that I have happened upon them...

I'm interested in them after our family made a new year's resolution to 'go green' and be more eco conscious. A large part of that was to stop buying commercial products & cleaners & make our own versions- almost all of which call for essential oils! But being that I'm not very knowledgeable on what to buy or not buy, use or not use, I haven't actually started trying them out yet- would love to, though! :)

I'm interested in learning more about how to use Lemon Oil. I've been using Lavender scented items for years, and I love the smell of Lemon, but I had no idea you could use it for all those things listed. I'd like to know more about how to apply or mix it etc.

Right now I primarily use them for scenting homemade cleaners. I plan to try to use them a little more in the medicine cabinet.

Being diagnosed with Melanoma has changed everything for me and I am trying to keep myself and my family healthy by eating and healing naturally. After a year of horrible cancer treatment my body is responding better to natural healing then it did to all the prescriptions I was given for sickness, pain and mood control.

I would love to make a body scrub with these oils. I especially love the smell of peppermint and I think it would leave a cooling sensation after rinsing off in the shower. Lemon would make me smile and lavender would be great after a stressful day and would help me nod off to sleep. I vbwould love to look for other uses as well!

I'm always looking for natural alternatives to traditional treatments and such. Essential oils are completely natural and are much better than the chemicals that are in most products. I've read a bit on it, and look forward to trying it.

Anjuli, you're smart to research doTERRA, I did the same. I originally signed up to help my daughter in law get started as a rep. I didn't actually use my oils for several months after I ordered them. But once I started, there was no denying their strength and efficacy. I struggle blogging about doTERRA essential oils as I don't want people to think I'm selling anything. I just want to spread the good word and be here as a source of information for those with questions. Thanks for being discerning and open to trying essential oils...I know you'll be amazed and grateful for all their benefits once you try them!

I had Peppermint essential oil once... I got to use three drops of it before my husband accidentally smashed it all over the fireplace mantle. THAT was a pungent house for a few days! I love learning about new ways for my family to sustain itself just a little bit better, and essential oils could be one way to really make those self sustainable ways a little bit easier to tolerate :)

I'm interested in essential oils to improve my health. Ever since I moved up north my health has been going down the drain mainly due to allergies and seasonal depression. I have used a lavender/chamomile roll on before and it helped me sleep. Ever since Pintrest I have been rekindling my interest in herbs, and as a Massage Therapy student, I am learning the benefits of aromatherapy. When I finish school I want to create my own chemical free spa products and eventually own my own Massage business.

What I love about essential oils is how SIMPLE and NATURAL they are! (Plus they smell amazing!) Aromatherapy is something I believe STRONGLY in. There are natural remedies for any ailment in your body, but I think people have become too reliant on the convience of stopping at the pharmacy for perscription drugs, which only mask the problem and cause side effects. With essential oils, you're using something natural with no yucky synthetic chemicals, and for that, I can't find any reason NOT to use them. They are so versitile too, anything from household cleaning products, to fabric refreshers, to beauty products, to body and mind healing, the list goes on! So far, I've only personally used tea tree oil to help treat my acne but I'm REALLY excited to make a number of homemade products with essential oil in them.

What a wonderful chance to start cleaning out the medicine cabinet with this chance of essential oils. Win or lose this is something we are going to incorporate into our lifestyle and stop poisoning ourselves with chemicals!! Thank you Camp Wander for all your post!!!

Jacqui, I love doTERRA for that very reason...the purity. To all those just getting started with essential oils...all I ask is that you do your homework when buying them. Make sure there aren't any additives! You will be throwing money at a product that won't be effective. Remember, you get what you pay for when it comes to EO's.

At July 24, 2012 at 6:29 AM , Blogger Rebecca said...

So important to share! Hands on use of essential oils is the best way to learn how amazing they are :) That was a good friend!

At July 24, 2012 at 6:37 AM , Blogger Rebecca said...

Nice comment! A good reminder that while prescriptions may have their use, there is always a side effect. Give EO's a go...you can't overdose and there's no side effects. You can clean and scent your home with them while working on wellness. If you consider EO's versatility and effectiveness, they're a BARGAIN.

I've always been a "clean freak", and in the past that has meant buying and using all sorts of commercial products. I spent a TON of money! I recently had my first child, a baby girl, and have become concerned about the safety of using these products as well as her safety around them. I have also become concerned since several of my family members have been diagnosed with cancer and scleroderma, an autoimmune disorder. I have been trying to use " natural" remedies, and I have found many solutions recommend using essential oils. I would love to learn more about using oils, and from what I have heard and read, doTerra is one of the best!

I've written this three times but things aren't working out for me. Sorry if this appears more than once!

After reading one of your posts, I remembered that I used to use essential oils but had forgotten about them. I was at the lake and got a number of bites. My reaction to bites is worse than a lot of people. They get terribly red and swollen and are incredibly itchy! When I got home, I remembered my tea tree oil and applied it 2-3 times per day and the redness and swelling went away almost immediately and the itchiness was completely relieved. I'd love to have a sample pack to expand my knowledge and experience with essential oils. Thanks! Zaelia

I love essential oils! They have so many uses. Currently my favorite use for lavender is to put it in a spray bottle with water and spray any areas you do not want spiders (our backyard has SO many) and they will leave without having to hurt or kill anything. Spiders smell through their feet and do not like the smell of many essential oils such as peppermint, eucalyptus, etc. It works great for ants, too!

I would live to win this giveaway! My main reason for this is, I want to rid my house of nasty chemicals! This was never really a concern until the birth of my second baby. She has some serious allergies and skin sensitivities and we learned the hard way that I can't touch her after cleaning with Lysol. I am a bit overwhelmed when it comes to where to start so, this giveaway would be just what I need! Thanks for the giveaway :)

Love essential oils...just made a sleepy toy for my granddaughter -- stuffed animal with 2 drops lavender oil in the stuffing and squish it around to disperse it a bit. She went to sleep easily and wasn't restless like she usually is. Daughter is already going to get some carrier oil and lavender for at home to use on little one's feet now to make sleepy time much easier!!

Already 'liked' on facebook :-)

Well, I suffer from chronic pain and I just had my neck fused from C 4 to 7 and recovering has not gone well. On top of it all I have Fibromyalgia, which has made recovering even worse. Then my landlord is asking us to move August 19th. I can't pack, I can't lift, I can't do anything, I am having a great deal of inflammation and swelling. It seems to be effecting my joints in my hands and my feet as well. We don't have the money for another place because the man really didn't give us fair warning, so I am having to go into a room and my dogs are going with family. My life is very stressful now. I am wondering if any of the oils could help with the inflammation, muscles aches and the stress. I am a diabetic and I have adrenal insufficiency, plus I take medicine for my thyroid. I also take medicine for esophageal spams and a distressed stomach. Needless to say I am a mess. Anything you might recommend to help me would be appreciated. Right now I am so stress I have clear blisters on the palms of my hands. I am guessing it from stress. I live with pain 24/7, I never get a minute off and I know there is nothing out there for that. Most pain medications leave me with terrible side effects and I can't take but one and only small dose, otherwise I can't sleep at night. It keeps me wide awake! Well, that enough about me. Thanks in advance. I hope you are having a good day. Freda

Oh, my I am reading about people with migraines and I have them too, I was in the bed with them 2 or more weeks a month and nothing helps until a doctor prescribed Topmax. I know it's not an oil or a natural product, but it sure did save my life. I no longer get headaches, at least not migraines. She started me off with 25 mg and I just take 50 mg. and I do great! I have not had any side effect from the drug up to this point and I have taken this drug now for about 5 years. I hope this might help someone. My husband is a vet and had headaches too and they put him on this too and it worked for him too. He took so many aspirins he no longer has stomach lining. Don't take aspirins for migraines in the long run it will kill your stomach. Take it from someone who is 59 and he is 64. Freda

One of my philosophies has always been "you are never too old to learn and try something new." I am a 73 year old, still young at heart. I'm in partial remission from CLL, a type of leukemia. I've had three rounds of chemo, but I'm doing great right now and have lots of energy. No one knows the reasons for developing CLL, but it is believed chemicals can be one of the reasons for developing the disease. I, and my family members, are aware of the overabundance of chemicals in our lives and what excessive chemicals do to us and to our planet. For many years we discussed the problems, but did little to change our ways. However, recently I decided to make some changes. So, I began reading about and experimenting with making many of the everyday items we use, such as detergents, cleaners and personal products. I found recipes to use vinegar, soda, rubbing alcohol, salt, hydrogen peroxide, essential oils, etc., to get great results without strong chemicals. (Many of the recipes come from your website and Lillee's) I even discovered many of the safe cleaning items were used years ago by my sweet mama and I didn't learn to use them. Then, I followed several "recipes" for cleaning products. I tested them, approved them and then shared a couple of cleaners with my granddaughter who is 24. She loves the products and has asked me for more "recipes". Now I am reading and trying to learn about essential oils so I can add them to cleaning, personal care, and health improvement products. I plan to make Christmas gifts using essential oils for my daughter, daughter-in-law, and three granddaughters. I also plan to develop a recipe book for each of them so they can continue to make homemade, chemical-free products. Then their lives can be healthier, greener and they can save money! Winning some basic essential oils would be greatly appreciated. It will help not only me, but five other families in our quest to improve our lives and to care for our planet.

While I have yet to use essential oils, I already know I'm going to love them! I recently lost my job (after 10 years) and have been focusing on homemade cleaners/lotions/scrubs vs. store-bought. At first it was due to necessity (lack of funds) but now I prefer my own! Many of the "recipes" I find call for oils but I haven't used them because of the added cost. Since it is just my 6-year-old and myself, every penny counts. She is a huge advocate for greener living and a huge inspiration to me. We are both looking forward to experimenting with essential oils.

This year I have been getting very into making things myself. Then I lost my job recently and now it's becoming a bit of a necessity. Essential oils are kinda pricey and it would be awesome to be able to win some!

I love essential oils. Recently we found out my husband is allergic to fabric softener, which then extended into febreeze and all other fabric and air fresheners. So I quickly, with the help of Jillee, learned to make my own. I now make just about every cleaner in my house and use essential oils in all of them. I have never bought these essential oils just because they are a little pricey, but have heard wonderful things.

I'm interested in them because, well, I'm already planning Christmas presents. I'm going to be making everything homemade. I'm going to make lotions and bath fizzies and many many more things like that. However, being the poor college student I am (which is also why I'm making homemade gifts instead of buying) I don't have money for, well, much of anything. So I really need these to make my presents great!

I love essential oils. I make a lot of homemade skin products and use them in my cleaning business. I also use them for myself and my kids. There are so many things they can be used for. I also use them to scent the house.

I had never heard of essential oils until I got married. My mother and sisters in law are huge on using them and after reading all about them, I'm totally sold! I love the smell and the health benefits!

I would love to start using essential oils to rid my house of nasty chemicals! Both my kids have sensitive skin and I have to be careful what I use.

I have used essential oils for their scents to help with sleep or stress relief - but not for health benefits. I would love to try them and learn.

Hi, Rebecca! I found your blog via Pinterest. I was looking for some DYI cleaning products. I have been wanting to try essential oils but was afraid to buy online and didn't know what to buy at the store. Thanks for breaking down the benefits of these.

My fur babies gave me the motivation to go green. One of them suffers from allergies so we switched to Eco friendly alternatives. My next goal is to start making her homemade shampoo. Thanks for all the great information!!! Franz

My kids make me want to be more green. I am working hard at taking chemicals out of our lives and my first step was cleaners, which is how I started with some essential oils. I actually contacted doTerra about a consultant in my area and no one has contacted me. :( I want to learn more and keep using the oils I am using (Lavender, Tea Tree and Grapefruit).

What a great giveaway! I only have tea tree oil right now (love it!), but I've been dying to get some lavender since my neighbor lent me some to help with a small burn on my daughter. We were truly stunned at how quickly it healed her skin! Amazing.
