This looks amazing and I can't wait to try it! I have been oil cleansing for about 6-8 months and love it, but have found that I miss having an exfoliating effect. This is a perfect fix. Also, I can't wait to add EO to my face cleaning regime. I have been using your healing salve on my feet every night before bed and I love it! It has replaced "petroleum jelly" in our home! Thank you for all of your great advice!
ReplyDeleteP.S. Between you and Jillee I feel like my life is much enriched!
Compliments don't get much better than that! Thanks :)
DeleteHere's another great idea for my Christmas gift list! I must say I agree with Britt, have to add Dori too though with all those tasty recipes she shares!! =)
ReplyDeleteAmen Lynn :)
DeleteI made this and loved it but I kept it in the shower and it got moldy! It smelled just like blue cheese! I was using an old gelato container that had a screw on lid. Have you had that problem? I'm going to make another batch but not store it in the shower again
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear that, yuck! No, I haven't had that problem but I live in a dry climate here in WY, maybe that plays a factor. I'm curious, what kind of carrier oil you added to the coconut oil?
DeleteAs long as you keep water out of it, it won't mold.
Deletethank you!! could you blend in e-vitamin in to that too??
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely!
DeleteIf you don't have cornmeal, can you substitute cornstarch, or no?
ReplyDeleteThe cornmeal IS the exfolient. You can use sea salt or even sugar. Though using sugar may cause molding faster. You need a grit to exfoliate.
DeleteI have been using sugar with Ivory soap as an exfoliating scrub for a while now and follow with baby oil to finish. I work on a ranch and am pretty tough on my skin... This really helps and your recipe looks really good.
DeleteIs there a way to print your recipes without having to copy an d paste? I love so many of them and am making a collection ...would be much easier if there was a print link. Thank you for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteIf you download Evernote Clearly (http://evernote.com/clearly/) it'll place a button on your browser, or you may have to place it yourself. I forget. Anyway, you click that button and it puts the page into a cleaned up mode that gets rid of ads and comments, keeping all of the post and photos so it's easier to print. I think when you do it, it makes the background dark and the text light but there's a way to turn that off. You can even highlight important sections of text.
DeleteI use it for crochet/knitting patterns on blogs so I can clip them to the main Evernote program. Haven't tried printing from it, as I don't have a printer, but there's a button to do so. :)
I tried this and the cornmeal separates from the oils. I did not whip. Is that maybe why?
ReplyDeleteI made a half batch of this and got three and a half 4oz containers out of it. Could I have whipped it too much?
ReplyDeleteCan you use this like a moisturizer? or does it need to be rinsed/washed off?
ReplyDelete~Michelle
It's gritty Michelle, but without the cornmeal...you certainly could us it as a moisturizer, sparingly!
DeleteSo do I use it just like the whipped coconut oil cleanser?
ReplyDeleteYes. The polish has the grit added for exfoliation.
DeleteI saw in a comment you can use sea salt... how much can i use?
ReplyDeleteI totally wish I had some other EO on hand right now so I could go make this!
ReplyDeleteHi can I use blended oatmeal instead of corn meal as a polish? Or flax meal?
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely!
DeleteHow do I pin this coconut polish?

DeleteJust wondering if you had any idea what the shelf life of this would be. I'm wondering if it would be fairly short if using Avocado oil and with the addition of the cornmeal.
ReplyDeleteJackie, I don't think the addition of cornmeal would shorten the shelf dramatically, give it a try :))
DeleteThis is sooo interesting. Where can I order these products? Are they very expensive (EO)?
ReplyDeletePure essential oils are amazing. They're definitely an investment but a better one is hard to find :)) At the top of this blog post on the right side of the page, you'll see a doTERRA link...do some browsing and if you have any questions please let me know!
ReplyDeleteThis looks amazing! I've done it before as a sugar scrub, but might have to try the cornmeal...thanks!
ReplyDeleteIs this used nightly? weekly? Just stumbled on your blog and love it as all smart women would!!!!!!!!! lol
ReplyDeleteEileen, nightly might be too much...I would suggest once or twice a week but it's a personal preference in the end :))
DeleteI add Slim & Sassy eo to it and use it as a body scrub! Daily! It's amazing! And if you use it before shaving you can go days with smoother legs! :-). Thank you!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant :))
DeleteI tried this minus the corn meal because I already mix coconut oil, lavender & melaleuca to use as deodorant (it is very effective). I worked some into my face before showering so it could soak in a bit whilst I picked out my clothes. Then I take a hot shower & let the steam go to work. I wash my face last with Castille soap. Once I am out of the shower I work a little more into my face as a moisturizer. Because this mixture is a fungicide, antimicrobial and anti bacterial it is good for many, many things that smells great-- I use it as a deodorant, foot soak, pre & post manicure, moisturizer, sunscreen, hair strengthener & frizz control, lip balm, after shaving & eyebrow plucking.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds very interesting...you just mix the three together for all those purposes? Coconut oil, lavendar and melaluca?
