All in One Coconut Oil Skin Polish & Cleanser

Next to Spark Naturals PURE essential oils, I can't think of much else that's more versatile or good for you than coconut oil!  Just when I think I've used it in every possible way known to man I find another use for it.

You, and your skin will L O V E this new skin polish!

All in one Coconut Oil Skin Polish is made with much the same organic ingredients as this Whipped Coconut Cleanser but, with the addition of cornmeal, for both a gentle cleanser AND a skin polish in one special product!

What makes the skin polish even more beneficial is the addition of EOs pertaining to your skin's needs!

~ Coconut Oil Skin Polish Recipe ~

2 cups organic coconut oil
1/2 cup sweet almond or avocado oil
1 cup cornmeal

Soften coconut oil, whip in the almond or avocado oil, blend in cornmeal.

Warmed in oven to soften coconut oil.

Cornmeal and oils blended together with hand mixer.

Blemishes be Gone Blend
(per 4 oz jar)

15 drops Lavender
5 drops Melaleuca

Coconut oil is F A B U L O U S for problem skin because of it's anti~bacterial and anti~microbial properties!  Melaleuca for a deeper clean and Lavender to calm and soothe skin.

Hydrating and Healing Blend
(per 4 oz jar)

15 drops Lavender
5 drops Geranium

For my aging skin, I add anti~aging EOs:  8 drops Frankincense, 5 drops Helichrysum, 2 drops Myrrh and 2 drops Geranium per 4 oz jar.  I recommend using the All in One Polish and Cleanser twice a week, see what works best for you :)

HOW TO...

Add the oils of your choice to the jars BEFORE you add the warmed oils.  Once filled, take a small whisk or a tiny spoon and very gently stir the EOs to blend ALL of the oils.  Let sit for an hour until cool and put the lids on snuggly!

Recipe fills (five) 4 oz jam jars.  Talk about a great gift!

Enjoy!

because many people share an allergy to corn, (its right up there with peanuts, wheat, soy and eggs/diary) is there something that could be substituted for the corn meal??? thank you..

How do you use the polish? Is it to clean your face or do you use it after your face has been washed?

Maybe oatmeal?

Could you please tell me if the cornmeal is coarse in texture or fine like flour? We have different names for some ingredients in Australia and US use of cornmeal/starch/flour can be cause for some confusion here. I look forward to trying out the cleanser Thanks! :)

Certainly! Cornmeal is gritty...close to a kosher salt in texture but not quite that gritty.

It does both, cleans and polishes :)

What can I use in place of cornmeal? And if the answer is oatmeal, do I need to grind it up?

Rice flour because it is known not to destroy skin cells or break the skin leaving it prone to infection.

I use sea salt for polishing. Is that acceptable or do I need to change to the cornmeal?

What is the difference between organic extra virgin coconut oil and just organic coconut oil?

Can I use the extra virgin one to make the cleanser?

Yes you can!

Any ideas for a puppy who has extremely dry skin to the point she scratches herself raw? Tried sreoids and allergy shots. Coconut oil on food, yogurt, vitamins, running out of ideas.

I would try switching to holistic food if you haven't already, continue with a spoonful of coconut oil in food once a day and treat the skin issues/wounds with CW All Purpose Healing Salve. You can google this for the recipe :)

Is this like a soap for the bath, or a lotion after? I guess I did not understand "polishing".

We have those products here as well, cornmeal is a coarsely ground corn, corn starch is ultra fine. So use the coarsely ground product.

I add 50% hempseed oil and store my potion in the fridge. I have a spot of cancer on my lip that is slowly disappearing. My dermatologist is watching - amazed.

Made my first batches of salves and body scrubs for a party yesterday!!
Love them already!
Does anyone have any tips for clean up?
I glass jars, spoons, spatchulas and bowls full of leftover residue from the coconut oil, olive oil and beeswax that I need to somehow re-melt and avoid getting into my drain in my sink. :(

Any idea how long this will stay safe, as there are no preservatives? In any event, I suppose I would use a clean utensil and not bare hands to take product from jar.

Agree about oatmeal.

I love this idea. However, I'm new to all this stuff. How exactly would you us this to cleanse your face? Will it remove makeup? Thank you.

It's a mild exfoliant for your face, which takes off the old, dead skin cells and leaves your skin feeling fresh and really smooth!

What about warming the containers and then wiping them out with paper towels...the very little left over will melt in the hot water, and wouldn't really clog up your drains if washed down with very hot water.

Did I misunderstand? I thought this was for the whole body and not just the face. Am I mistakened? I'm like Ivy....not clear as to how to use this mix. Please advise.

I also prefer sea salt as an exfoliant. Can I use sea salt in lieu of cornmeal? Or will it damage the concoction, therein turn be harmful to my skin?

At January 1, 2014 at 9:06 PM , Blogger Kim said...

I also just use straight coconut oil or coconut oil with essential oils added. Love it!

My dog experiences the same skin condition and after years of vets I took matters into my own hands. I shampoo weekly with an very good organic shampoo. I took her off all dog food, even the holistic which did not work for her either. I make my own dog food now. This takes time because you need to start with one cab and one protein for about 2 months to see results. If you see good results you can then add a vegetable. You need to eventually get a balanced diet by slowly adding foods and waiting at least 2 months to see results, good or bad. This has worked for her!

I use brown sugar with coconut oil for a face and body exfoliant. I also use straight coconut oil for a daily moisturizer.

Yes of course, this can be used as a body and facial polish!

Oil cleansing pulls dirt and makeup from the skin and yes, it will remove your makeup and leave your face feeling soft :)

Oat bran?

How do you use this polish/cleanser? The comments still leaves one unclear. What are the steps exactly? i.e. Apply a small amount of mixture to face. Rub in an upward circular motion until mixture begins to.... Then rinse with lukewarm water or Wipe with warm towel until no visible signs of mixture remains. May you provide similar instructions with thst amount of detail?

This is a variation to the Coconut Oil Cleansing Method, you'll see the link to more information on that method near the top of the post.

I accidentally melted the coconut oil in the almond oil and added the cornmeal. So now, the cornmeal sinks to the bottom and the oil is on top. I have it in the fridge to help it form a bit again. Will this be alright?

It seems like you are saying to wash with it and then apply it as a moisturizer. Is this correct?

At January 15, 2014 at 10:19 AM , Blogger Rebecca said...

It's actually a "two benefits in one" product. After exfoliating, the outcome is smoother skin with moisture :)

Baking soda. Seriously, baking soda makes the best face polish! (It makes your skin as soft as a Clarisonic would) And for something a little more coarse but with great benefits, MSM powder.

Try putting extra virgin olive oil on the food.
