The Great Lemon Bomb Toilet Cleaner!

I'm home alone, blogging about toilet cleaner and wishing like crazy that someone was here to see this! Who knew that cleaning toilets could be so much fun!

When your kids see this mad scientist move, they'll be jumping up and down volunteering to get this chore...a small miracle in of itself wouldn't you say?

And, you're going to laugh when you see how much fun this is and how squeaky clean the toilet bowl gets!

SIMPLE ingredients!
Good for you, the planet AND your plumbing!  I use this basic recipe for unclogging my kitchen sink so consider it a bonus to that sparkling commode, the plumbing gets a good cleanse too!

For a lemony clean add a 5 to 6 drops of doTERRA Lemon EO to...

1 Cup Vinegar and 1 Cup Baking Soda...

I would suggest you combine the ingredients in the following order :)

First of all, choose a large pitcher, pan or bowl because once you combine all the ingredients the mad, mad fun begins!  Add the Lemon EO and the white vinegar first, then dump in the baking soda and watch the magic!  Actually, you might want to grab it and run because it grows rather quickly!  There was maybe 2 seconds between photos, and look how it grew!

SO FUN!!

Apologizing in advance!  Somehow it doesn't seem right to post a photo of a toilet bowl :-/

But you've got to see this!  Once you drop the contents into the bowl it fills up with this thick, glorious, lemony, foamy cleaning genius that works amazingly well!  I let the magic sit for awhile...then flush it down and clean the pipes too!

Try this with your kids over the weekend, show them just how fun cleaning can be *wink* *wink*!

couldn't you just do this directly in the toilet bowl? Add the vinegar with EO first; then dump in the cup of baking soda? Just curious...I do this for my sinks every few months, especially the kitchen sink with the food disposal in it but NEVER thought to use it in my toilets! Brilliant!!

Do you have to add the EO, or is that optional?

It's optional but it does add to the clean and of course the fragrance of the lemon is a bonus!

Mary, I don't know if you would such a dramatic effect by adding directly to the toilet bowl. It's just more fun this way ;)

I'm sorry but, what is EO? can I just use regular lemon juice or no?

EO = Essential Oil
Yes, you can use lemon juice if you prefer!

Okay, me and my daughter tried it tonight and the bubbling effects are dramatic in the container and need to be emptied out immediately in the toilet bowl...however, once in the toilet bowl, nothing else happened :(
Now, I just realize that my baking soda carton had been opened more than 30 days ago, would that have made the difference? I would have thought that since the fuzz happened in the container, it would certainly continue on in the toilet bowl. What did I do wrong?

The baking soda may have made a difference, hard water vs soft water may have something to do with it too.

Mine did not bubble either once in the toilet bowl and my box of baking soda was brand new. Hmmm.

The vinegar would be watered down too much in the toilet bowl with the water that exists in there. It's one of those chemistry ppu (parts per unit) thing. You could use a johnny mop to get the water out of the toilet bowl first like I heard a cleaning specialist suggest once. (Don Aslett video: http://www.cleanreport.com/bath-kitchen.html) I just tried it by clearing out most of the water first (as per the video), and it worked great. The toilet was cleaner than ever. Thanks!
