Remedies for a Persistent Cough
Cold and flu season is already hitting hard with people all around us "sharing" various viruses via a nagging, persistent cough.
This is often the worst symptom, a stubborn cough can hang on for weeks! Of course there's little time to lay in bed with with a good movie, so what's a persistent cougher to do? Here's a few remedies that can help!
Most of us know that a warm liquid like tea, sweetened with honey and infused with lemon is a time proven remedy right? Here's a more modern version...
Remedy #1
1. Pour hot water into a mug and add 2 drops of Shield Protective Blend.
2. Add 1 drop of Lemon EO for flavor and additional anti-bacterial properties.
3. Add a teaspoon of honey to help soothe the tickle in your throat.
Shield tea with honey and lemon is a gentle, soothing remedy but sometimes, you gotta bring out the big guns to get the job done! Persistent coughs call for extra vigilance and consistent EO use.
Remedy #2
Surprise, surprise! Lime essential oil acts as a cough suppressant, it's excellent to use at night when you need your sleep.
Add 2 drops to a glass of water before bedtime.
Remedy #3
2 drops Eucalyptus and 2 drops of fractionated coconut oil for a nice evenly spread blend, massage on the bottom of both feet.
Add 2 drops Rosemary to the blend for stubborn mucous.
At night, massage feet with 2 drops of Lavender mixed with a carrier oil or your favorite sleep blend for a restful sleep. When you're feeling better, make a jar of Dreamy Sleep Salve...this is what works for me!
(apply every 2 hours with coconut oil)
1) 1 drop ea. Eucalyptus, Peppermint, Melaleuca
1 drop Lemon
1 drop Peppermint
Gargle in a tablespoon of water for 1 to 2 minutes and swallow, do this as needed.
...and of course, wash your hands often!

Thank you!! A lifesaver for sure to have all these recipes in one post. Question: The chest rub recipes...is that 4 recipes, and you choose which one to make or are all those ingredients in one rub? Sorry, for the dumb question! ;)
Not a dumb question at all - but I'll clarify :) They're 4 different protocols - as EOs work differently on all of us!
Thanks! I'll try these, with emphysema I cough alot!
Would the chest rub recipes be okay for a 4-year old? He has a cough that's been lingering, and it just doesn't seem to get better. And, how much coconut oil to use with the EOs? I have the non-fractionated oil that came in a tub. Thank you!
